Dear parents and carers,
Endeavour have had a fantastic first full week back at school. They are enjoying the shared class text 'The Boy at the Back of the Class' (Please do let me know if you are struggling to find a copy) and the descriptive writing from year 5 and 6 this week has been wonderful to read!
Year 6 have met their buddies! A fantastic weekly playtime for oldest and youngest in the school is such a wonderful part of being in year 6. Adventure class are very lucky to have such wonderful role-models.
Our blog post photo this week is from a very eventful (and entertaining) PSHE lesson on 'collaboration'. Groups were given team work tasks with various challenges thrown in and winning teams were awarded points based on how effective their collaboration was!

Elections were held this week for the School and eco Council roles (results to follow) and year 6 House and Vice Captains elections will be during assembly next week!
In topic lessons, the class will be exploring factors that influence migration. This links well with our class book which has so far given opportunities for such quality class discussions. Useful Geography vocabulary for next week is at the bottom of this post.
In French the class will continue to practice their French speaking skills with a focus on asking questions about each other's likes and dislikes.
Info on Oxfordshire Libraries competition
The competition provides a wonderful opportunity for children to develop the creative writing skills they practise in school while exploring their imagination at home and in their own time.
Inspire pupils to tell their own stories, write for enjoyment, and share their creativity. They could even become a published author.
The winning entries in each category will be published as an eBook, available for Oxfordshire Libraries members to borrow during 2027.
Children's entries must be submitted with parent or carer consent. Full terms and conditions, together with instructions on how to submit entries, can be found on the Oxfordshire Libraries website:

Homework: Atom Learning (all children have been given their login details now) for maths, both year 5 and 6.
Year 6 - paper copy arithmetic questions . Year 6 have been asked to focus on working out why the correct answers they filled in are correct. This is the start of a weekly arithmetic lesson, each week will be a specific area of focus, individual to each child. They will be told in class what they need to do at home.
TTRS - Fluency in times tables is vital for confidence in trickier concepts. If you need some advice in how best to support fluency at home, please let me know.
The class are on chapter 6 of our class book at the moment and from time to time I may ask that they read a chapter at home, to answer questions in a lesson on Mondays. This weekend we would like them to finish Chapter 6 at home.

What a fantastic week for writing in Year 5!! This week the children have been working on character descriptions using a character from our class book and I have been blown away with the depth in the children's writing. It has been clear to see that the children have all understood the character and from that have added huge amounts of detail within their work. Well done year 5.
Maths this week has been carrying on with place value and different ways we can write tenths, this has even developed into how we can write multiplication equations using tenths and how this is shown. The children continue to show great understanding, even with the trickier understanding this week.
This week has also seen the year 5's present their school or eco council speeches with the election followed afterwards. The children showed great courage and enthusiasm whilst presenting their speeches and all showed respect for their classmates whilst they undertook, what could have been a very scary moment, their speeches to help them all feel calmer. The results of these elections will be presented in assembly next week.
