To all our wonderful Highflyers families,

Well… I think we can all, categorically, say that your INCREDIBLE children have made it through yet another rather warm week ‘in school’ in true style …  bless them :) Concluding with a rather hasty ‘Class of the Week’ treat to see out our lovely Friday afternoon before assembly started at 3 o’clock … - following on from, earlier, a HUGE number of wide smiles emerging from their terrific ‘Moving Up’ Morning to Mrs Davey and Mrs Hyslop this morning … truly fabulous stuff … ;)

However, unbelievably, this coming week marks the last of the school year and the last one of Year 2! The year has, I am sure you will agree, utterly sped by; however, Mrs Shrimpton and I did just dearly want to wish everyone an outrageously lovely summer holiday … before starting as Year 3 in September!

During this coming week, we shall be mainly looking to complete our topic on Monarchs, having some fun maths activities as well as sorting out our hard-earned books, tidying individual drawers and finishing off our lessons for this term …

In terms of our spellings – as is most probably obvious, on Monday it will be the last spelling quiz/test and so no new spellings will be issued in planners – although do know that Mrs Davey starts quite promptly with Year 3 spellings each week (once the children have whizzed up into Discovery Class) … so expect they might enjoy the ‘short’ break … including their ‘grown-ups’ if I remember rightly :)

Also if possible, this is just a gentle – but heartfelt - REMINDER – if it could please be possible to return any school books by Thursday of this week? There are still some whole class shared reader books still outstanding, so we would be enormously grateful if you could, perhaps, double check at home??

EVENTS this week

Forest School continues on Wednesday morning – which I know always brings a large cheer from the children (although, does not – sadly - follow up into their Year 3 weekly timetable with them …) and P.E. on Thursday afternoon (followed by Art with Mrs Mayor) is also still planned to go ahead …

WEDNESDAY - Please send in a strong named bag if at all possible (by Wednesday) for all the children’s gorgeous school books to be gathered and sent home safely - and in one journey! :)

THURSDAY at 9.00am (in the Main Hall) is our Star of the Term and Leavers' Assembly - whereby we are very much looking forward to celebrating the past year whilst also saying 'farewell' to all our Year 6 leavers with our fondest wishes …

FRIDAY at 1.30 pm - END OF TERM. 

Mrs Greenwood is also happy for all staff to pop a short note onto our individual Class Blogs reiterating that this is also a non-uniform day (with, the hope that, any uniform pieces which are no longer required within families might be kindly donated to the FONS second-hand collection) with, additionally, the earlier time for the end of our day ...

And so, our fantastic year is almost over … but please do know how deeply we have all enjoyed every moment with your magnificent children throughout each and every one of our 6 terms 'together' ... Miss Wall told us this time last year that they were an absolute joy of a year group to teach - and they have, honestly, surpassed everything we could have hoped for or ever asked of  ... Therefore, please do know how very much Mrs Shrimpton and I are, honestly, wishing you all a really, really lovely summer break and the biggest THANK YOU possible for all your kindness, care, support and love over this last year!

All the VERY VERY best for Year 3! We shall genuinely miss you all terribly ...
