The Week Ahead3 July 2026 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts)) |
Sports Day
Sports Day was very enjoyable – it is always a pleasure seeing the children compete with such enthusiasm and support each other so warmly. Thanks to all the parent support – it makes it such a special day.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Well done to the whole class for coping with the disruption of the play rehearsals in the hot weather – it’s definitely coming together now.
Costumes must be brought to school on Monday for the dress rehearsal. All of Year 4 (in the chorus) should dress on a fairy /woodland/woodland creature theme. Being dressed in woodland colours (greens and browns) is fine. Please do not feel you have to buy anything special. The dress rehearsal is first thing in the morning.
For Wednesday’s evening performance, children should arrive in school between 5.30pm and 5.40pm at the latest in plenty of time to get ready for a 6pm start. There will be an interval when there will be an opportunity to buy refreshments and we expect the whole show to last around 80 minutes.
It takes place in the walled garden and you may like to bring your own chairs (or picnic blankets). The folding school chairs will also be available. Please note that there is no raised stage – we are using our wonderful woodland as the setting and we ask you to be mindful of where you sit in order to give everyone good view.
Hot weather next week
Next week it is due to be very hot again, so please remember that all children must have:
- Sunhats – if they don’t have one, they are not allowed out at playtime
- Sun cream applied before they come to school
- Water bottles
