The Week Ahead

21 June 2026 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts))

Topic work next week

Last week the census led us to discover all about Victorian jobs and very interesting it has been too – if a little gory at times!

Next week, we’ll take a look at census extracts from 1911 and find out how some brave women began the campaign to secure votes for women.

Hill End

Year 4 are off to Hill End next Wednesday and I am going with them. Of course, we will miss the Year 5s, but I know they will be in the capable hands of the remaining upper school staff from Wednesday to Friday and will be having fun at school. The timetable for Y5s will remain the same.

NO SWEETS PLEASE – as discussed at the information meeting, please do not pack any sweets for your child. The food at Hill End is very good and plentiful. A few healthy snacks would be acceptable (if absolutely necessary) but we do not want children filling up on sugar and keeping everyone awake at night. In order to get the most out of the Hill End experience, everyone needs to have good night’s sleep. Lack of sleep = grumpy children. There are some children who are feeling a little worried about sleeping and I would ask that everyone helps us to make night times as easy as possible.

Play Costumes Many children say they have sorted their costumes already. All of Year 4 (in the chorus) should dress on a fairy /woodland/woodland creature theme. Being dressed in woodland colours (greens and browns ) is fine. Please do not feel you have to buy anything special. We should be able to make animal/insect headdresses in school

Year 5 pupils -  I think most have already sorted out their costumes. Crows will need black leggings and top.
