Happy Half Term23 May 2026 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts)) |
At the end of a very busy Term 5, we’ve made it to the holiday! It’s been a wonderful term of learning and we have enjoyed our ‘Deserts’ geography topic. In next term's history topic, we will ask the question 'What can the census tell us about local areas?'.
Children work hard every day at school and I hope they all manage to have a wonderful rest and a break from the school routine. That said, please read on to find out about learning at home during the week's holiday.
Y4 Multiplication Tables Check
All Year 4s have worked very hard at learning multiplication facts; I am delighted with their progress and they should be very proud of themselves. We now need to keep those facts fresh and there are many ways to do this – we have discussed and used a range of methods for learning them and children have no doubt developed their own preferred methods. This will be different for everyone. Please refer to Our approach to learning Times Tables - a guide for Parents & Carers which you can find at the top of Investigator Class page.
The practice app - URBrainyMTC is a good one. This is good preparation for the check itself. Everyone has had a go at the DfE MTC ‘have a go’ check which replicates the actual check, so they know exactly what to expect. Checks will take place sometime in the first two weeks of Term 6.
Upper School Play
We are loving the songs already! Please keep practising. All children have a copy of the script. Those in Year 5 with a speaking part – please learn your lines.

We have also started to talk about costumes and children have sketched some preliminary design ideas.
Have a lovely half term break. See you in Term 6!
