Final Week of Term 5

15 May 2026 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts))

Final week of Term 5

The final week of term is upon us. Everyone has worked incredibly hard and thoroughly deserves all they have achieved. Next week, we will be wrapping up our Deserts topic—though, as always, it feels as if the children have now become the experts. They certainly sounded like it in this week’s writing task: as geography experts, they wrote formal letters very convincingly to advise a family on whether or not to move to the desert.

Events next week

There will be a PSHE workshop run by a SCARF facilitator.

Y4 on Monday afternoon / Y5 on Tuesday morning

Throughout the day on Tuesday children will take part in a collaborative Art session in their house teams. This is run by Sarah Lorrimer-Riley. I’m sure they will have great fun and I think the results are going to be amazing.

D&T

We have had a couple of D&T sessions this week and waistcoats of all shapes and sizes are coming along nicely. There will be some well-dressed cuddly toys out there! We will find time next week to put the finishing touches to them.

We have started to talk about the Upper School Play – we are putting on a musical version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The songs are already proving to be a hit! Everyone in Years 4-6 is involved. Speaking parts are offered to Year 6 and Year 5 and auditions will be held next week. Year 4s are in the chorus and an integral part of our musical production. All children will receive their own copy of the script on Monday.
