Week Ahead In Discovery 16.3.2613 March 2026 (by Sonia Coles (scoles)) |
It has been an incredible and fun week for the children. From a Roman Day experience to African dancing that involved using every muscle in their bodies, the class has been busy and enthusiastic throughout.
English:
The children wrote a poem titled “I Am a Roman Soldier” using their five senses. I was very impressed by their effort, and the standard of writing was fantastic.
Maths:
We completed Fraction Unit A and finished with an assessment. We have now moved on to our new topic: Measuring – Mass.
Roman Day:
The Roman Day experience was enjoyable for everyone. A special thank you to the parents who gave up their time to help on the day. Your support made this experience possible for the children.
African Dancing:
African dancing was a big hit! The children were beautifully behaved and fully engaged. By the end they were a little tired, but they thoroughly enjoyed it.
Next Week
Parents’ Evening:
Parents’ evening will take place on Tuesday and Thursday. I am looking forward to seeing you all and discussing the progress your child is making in Discovery.
Circus Visit:
Thanks to the Henley Youth Festival, we have a visiting circus coming to school. This will be a great opportunity for the children to see how performers use their bodies, with a little science involved too.
Science:
Over the next two weeks we will focus on science, exploring friction and magnetism.
Please could I ask that your child brings in a pair of woollen gloves. Grippy gloves would also be appreciated.

Discovery have earned a class treat this week!
For the whole week, children are allowed to:
-
