Term 3, Week 6

Writing

This week we will explore poetry and write shape poems.

Phonic/Reading

It is consolidation week to check the children are secure with the sounds learnt this term (a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e, u-e) and carry out assessments.

We are reading Shared Reader 50 The Sock Dispute

A digital version can be found here:

https://parents.fft.org.uk/S50_The_Sock_Dispute

I will also give the children Biff & Chip books for the half term holiday. Please note the level is not a reflection of their abilities. They have been chosen because they include the sounds learnt so far, and coincide with the scheme of learning, so it is an extra opportunity to embed what has been learnt and help build fluency skills.

In addition to Shared readers, you have home access to Future Readers which is an opportunity of embedding prior learning through a different selection of books online: Found here:

Maths

We are continuing our new unit on Addition & Subtraction (within 20). This week’s focus is on near doubles, subtract ones using number bonds, and counting back.

Music

This unit is called Exploring sounds. The class will explore how music is made up of high and low sounds, long and short sounds, and loud and quiet sounds, and create their own simple melodies. The Social question: How does music make the work a better place?

During story telling week we had fun creating stories as a whole class on the National Geographic Kids website and the children wanted me to share it with you all. If you would like to use it follow this link: https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/games/funny-fill-in

I hope you have a wonderful week!
