The Week Ahead in Investigator Class30 January 2026 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts)) |
This week in our writing lessons we wrote instructions for organising a beach clean-up event. They had some good ideas and it’s just a shame that we don’t have a beach nearby to test them out.
Next week, as we bring our topic to a close, we will write ocean-themed poetry as a celebration of our incredible marine environment.
National Storytelling Week
National Storytelling week, celebrating the oral tradition of storytelling, is next week and we will make the most of it in school. Bring in your favourite storybook and we will have fun sharing them throughout the week. It might be a favourite picture book or one you have been reading more recently. Be prepared to share it with the class.
D&T – Design and Make a Pop-up book
We have started our D&T pop-up book unit this week and in addition to planning their story content, they have been investigating and trying out various techniques. We clearly have some skilled pop-up artists in the room. Some children might like to investigate a little further; there are lots of tutorials online, for example, this one: Pop-up Techniques. You might also like to have a close look at the structure of any pop-up books you have at home.
