Unicorn Class Term 2 Week 214 November 2025 (by Rebecca Fenwick (rfenwick)) |
Unicorn Class Blog Term 2 Week 2 Week Commencing 10th November 2025
The Unicorn Class had another exciting week of exploring and they took part in remembrance day on Tuesday with the rest of the school. We all held 2 minutes silence, whilst watching a short animation to mark Remembrance Day. We used paints, collage materials, felt tips, crayons and oil pastels to make poppy pictures. We looked very careful at the colours on the poppy.
We discussed Children in Need and Pudsey. We made Pudsey Bear Biscuits. Some of us made Pudsey ears using paper, glue, tape and felt tips. We used pom poms and tweezers to put some spots on Pudsey's eye patch and made and coloured pictures of Pudsey.
We enjoyed listening to and discussing the pictures in ‘Red rockets and rainbow jelly’ by Nick Sharratt and Sue Heap. We talked about what we liked and chose our favourite jelly in one of the pictures. We had the opportunity to explore real jellies. While we were exploring the jelly, we noticed that the jelly changed as we played with it, first of all it was wobbly and you could put teddies on top. Then it turned runny and we could make tracks and pictures using our hands, vehicles, rollers and the teddies. We thought the jelly felt very sticky, cold, soft, runny, smooth and looked wobbly.
During maths we have been taking part with number songs, looking at numbers, counting of objects and actions. We have particularly enjoyed playing the Bug lotto, Incey Wincey Spider game and how many spots has Pudsey's eye patch got.
During phonics this week we have been learning the nursery rhyme ‘Little Miss Muffet’ and had a focus on rhythm, rhyme, voice sounds, oral blending and segmenting. We have continued to enjoy playing ‘George’s Gym’.
Outside we have enjoyed playing homes and schools, collecting leaves to make food, splashing in puddles, playing chasing games, building with the wooden blocks, using the bats, balls and bikes.
This week we have also enjoyed making play doughs, doing puzzles, using the magnetic tile shapes, making a big castle using junk modelling.
Next week we will continue with our ‘What is a celebration?’ and have a focus on nocturnal as part of this we will be discovering nocturnal animals, using the dark tent, exploring light and dark with torches, reflectors and sensory toys.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you all next week.
Best wishes
