Looking ahead to Term 2 week 2

7 November 2025 (by Alice Fletcher-Single (afletcher-single))

Hello all!
Endeavour class have been so enthusiastic this week with our new Tudor topic! We have all really enjoyed learning about Henry VIII this week, and looked at how to identify reliable historical sources. In English, the class have written some fantastic informal letters, as Will (the main character in our class text) and I have been so impressed with their thoughtful, historically accurate writing!
We also found time, whilst being historians, to discuss the reason we wear poppies and why the 11th November is important. Year 6 will be observing the minute silence on Tuesday at the church and all of Endeavour have created really thoughtful art pieces around the theme of WW1 and the armistice.
In French this week, the children played 'Quelle heure-est-il Monsieur Loup?!' which was a fab, energetic way to end the week!
In maths, year 6 have had their first go at some tired arithmetic practice and they all did really well. It is something we will continue to practice, to get the children used to moving on to the next question and returning to one they may be stuck on, later. They have worked really hard and should feel proud. Their homework this week on Atom is on multiples and fractions - we have only just started this unit. I have reminded the children again that times tables fluency is really key to being able to compare fractions and make the denominators the same. Please do encourage times tables rockstars!
Please could you email me if your child cannot log on to Atom.
Please can I politely request you purchase a second hand copy of Treason, for those who don't yet have one. The class are really enjoying reading this, and  It makes for a much more cohesive reading session when we each have copies. Thank you.
Looking ahead to next week, those doing bikeablility will need their bikes and helmets on 10th/11th/12th (see separate emails).
In the classroom, we will be learning more about Henry VIII in History, which will inform our and English - They will be writing a report on Tudor marriage!
In Science, we will be physicists next week and will be investigating electricity through building circuits!
Well done for a fantastic first week back, Endeavour class!
Wishing you all a restful weekend.
