Final Week of Term 117 October 2025 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts)) |
It is hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of term and yet here we are with one week to go! It has been a busy one and a very promising start to the year. I'm looking forward to five more good ones to follow.
Next week we bring our Alps Geography topic to a close with children letting their imaginations run wild as they continue to write their mountain adventure stories.
Sulgrave Manor Trip – on Tuesday 21st October. We have asked everyone to arrive in school at 8.40am and get straight on the coach which will be parked in the layby in front of Old School Green. The journey time to Sulgrave is over an hour and we are keen to have an early get away to make sure we arrive in time for our packed programme of workshops and house tours. Please wear school uniform.
Next term’s shared reader will be Treason by Berlie Doherty. The author paints a vivid picture of life in Tudor times, from the filthy slums of London to the ostentatious royal court, skilfully combining historical detail and plenty of excitement in this engaging adventure story. As in Term 1, we would like children to have their own copies so that they can read independently at home. Again in Term 2, I will be setting reading as homework. Second-hand copies can be obtained from online booksellers. We will also have some copies available in school.
Homework:
- English Skills – Test 3
- Reading – Read Chapter 10 of King of the Cloud Forests
- Spellings – weekly spellings to learn
- Maths – Y4 Atom maths Worded Problems Y5 Atom maths - Multiples and Factors
- Times Tables Practice – online (TTRockstars (children have their own accounts and logins are in planners) and White Rose 1 Minute Maths app are useful) or any other way of practising – games, reciting, having someone test you, writing it out and saying each equation as you write it.
Looking forward to a fabulous final few days - have a great week!
