This Week...Next Week...3 October 2025 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts)) |
Geography field trip
Last Monday seems a long time ago now but we had an interesting field trip around the village. We’ll use the data we collected in next week’s lesson ‘How are the Alps different from our local area?’
Y4 Boys’ Football
The Y4 boys had a great time at the football tournament last week. They didn’t win but Miss Ravenscroft reported that they represented their school brilliantly. Special congratulations go to Henry and Jack who were awarded Olympic Value medals. Henry’s positivity was contagious and lifted the team’s spirits and Jack’s grit and determination made him an effective player in several positions. Well done all of you!
Don’t forget it is the Y4 Girls’ Football next week on Tuesday afternoon.
National poetry day – we had a lovely time on Thursday in our poetry share. Everyone had chosen a poem to share with the class. Some were funny, some were thought-provoking, some rhymed, some did not, some were written by the children themselves, some recited the poem by themselves and some with a buddy. It was great!
Skipping Workshop
What a joy it was to see not just impressive skills but the determination, enjoyment and progress made by some children who were not as confident at the start of the workshop. If you want to keep practising, try out the video resources at https://www.skipping-workshops.co.uk/
Investigator Class WON THE CLASS HOUSE POINT TREAT! We thought we had clinched it last week and were a little disappointed. Luckily, this made them earn even more house points this week. Our treat will be next Friday when children can wear their own clothes to school. They will also be allowed to bring in any of the following: cuddly toy, a game to share (not electronic) or trading cards. We’ll have a special treat time in the afternoon. I have asked them not to bring any particularly valuable trading cards for obvious reasons.
Homework:
- English Skills – The new booklets were given out today. Please complete the first test in the booklet. We will mark these together next Friday, so children have the whole week to complete the first test in the booklet. Please look after these booklets; it is a good idea to keep them in a card or plastic folder.
- Reading – Chapter 7 of King of the Cloud Forests
- Spellings
- Maths – Y4 is on paper: written addition and subtraction practice Y5 Atom: Written Addition / Written Subtraction
Have a great week!
