Week Ahead in Discovery 15.09.2512 September 2025 (by Sonia Coles (scoles)) |
Week 1 of term 1 is done! The children have been working very hard in class and are getting use to the routines in Discovery,
This week in class, we began our new topic by learning about the four layers of the Earth – the crust, mantle, outer core and inner core. We discovered how volcanoes are formed and why they erupt.
To bring our learning to life, we made our very own volcanoes out of salt dough. Once they were painted and finished, we set them off with a fizzing eruption! It was a truly “wow” moment – exciting, messy, and memorable.
Over the next 2 weeks we will be writing a setting description on Pompeii based on our class text before the volcano erupts. We will be generating adjectives, adverbs, similes and metaphors to uplevel our writing.
Maths- Continuation of Place Value Unit.
Homework: I've emailed all parents regarding homework expectations in year 3. Please could I request that your child spends some time researching information based on our topic, complete maths worksheets (name), learn their spellings by Friday and practise their times table daily.
School and Eco council results will be announced on Monday's assembly by Mrs. Greenwood.
Thank you for your support in advance.
