Helpful Information - Week 2

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Highflyer Class - once again - and hope, very much, that the children all returned home on Thursday and Friday 'full of news' after enjoying two really wonderful days together!
I am very confident that by Tuesday (at the latest!) you shall all be merrily receiving our class emails (and any related links) although as we enter our first 'full' week just quickly wanted to excitedly share with you that the children shall be starting recorder sessions as part of our Monday afternoon music lessons from 15th September. The school are able to provide recorders for use in-school only, however if your child has their own recorder, then they are more than happily invited to bring that in for personal use during these sessions. However, please do remember - if at all possible - to name their recorder to avoid any unintentional mix-ups!?
With regards to our weekly printed spellings, Mrs Shrimpton and I shall be sticking these duly into every child's planner each Monday - so you, as parents, can be - we hope! - slightly clearer about what our spellings are for the week and can then, in turn, help practise them correctly at home. There is a spelling book which we have provided in school (which will remain in our Handwriting tray); and this book is where all the children will have initially copied them into. Please be assured that these copied spellings are always checked by staff in the classroom to ensure there are no copying errors - as we certainly do not want any child to learn an incorrect spelling (?!) - although can promise that this is not a test, just a first copy/practice exercise!
Maths homework (1 double-sided page) will be additionally popped into individual planners on a Friday afternoon - and can be returned anytime; although, preferably before the following Friday ... just to avoid confusion or the children feeling that they ever have more than one at a time to undertake! However, this is completely optional - so please do not feel that the children will be missing out on any learning if not completed; it is primarily just to serve as a reinforcement of our week's learning more than anything.
On a final note, the children will be heading out to wonderful Forest School sessions every Wednesday (with Diana Mills) from 10.00am; however, given that they have Registration, Music Assembly, Group Reading and Phonics prior to this time, all the children should whizz into school in their normal uniform in the first instance - yet accompanied by their Forest School clothing (in a suitable named bag) which can be easily hung onto our outside peg rack (with wellies below!) on arrival. You have my word that they will have ample time to change - and change back again before lunchtime; given how brilliantly experienced Diana and Katie both are in such things!
I am looking forward very much to meeting you all this week - if we haven't done so already; but until then thanking you all for the amazing preparation that you have already so clearly undertaken over the summer break - as we simply had two utterly joyous days last week ... ! Lovely stuff ...
With kindest regards - as always
Mrs Winters
