Welcome to term 6

27 May 2025 (by Sonia Coles (scoles))

I can't believe we are in the final term of the academic year 24-25. I hope you all had a lovely week off school and feeling ready for a long and busy term.

We will start the week with the introduction of our history topic ' What was important to the ancient Egyptians?' Children will have the opportunity over the next few weeks to discover and learn about Identifying  where and when ancient civilisations first appeared. Ask historically valid questions about sources.. Identify Ancient Egypt’s location and its key geographical features.. Explain why the River Nile was important to ancient Egyptians. .Explain the significance of the Rosetta Stone.. Explain the importance of gods and goddesses to people in ancient Egypt..Analyse mummification’s connection to ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife.. Decide what was important to people in ancient Egypt.

English:

Our topic will dictate a lot of our literacy writing. Children will write a discussion text on whether they would rather be a pharaoh or a slave. In their writing, they will use previous and current spag knowledge taught in class.

Maths

We will start our new topic 'Time.' Please encourage your child to use both an analogue and digital clock/ watch to tell the time ( by the hour, half past and quarter past). Children should continue to learn their times table and practise previous maths topics.

Homework:

Research facts about ancient Egyptians, spelling have been issued for T6 on the last day of T5, spag booklet and maths homework on Atom learning. Children must read a book for pleasure daily,

Many thanks for all your support and wishing you all a great week.
