Highflyer Class Term 5 Week 49 May 2025 (by Dorothy Wyatt (dwyatt)) |
12 May 2025
Last week, we had a great time learning about the needs of plants and waiting for them to germinate and appear!
This week our focus in geography is looking at human features found by the coast and using Weymouth as our example. We are asking the question: How do people use Weymouth? We will be thinking about the man-made aspects of a town on the coast and why people would want to visit there. Our writing will be linked to our topic lesson to write an imaginative newspaper report based on a fictional event at the seaside. Spellings are on Monday as usual this week.
Also, just to add an update from us, that as joint teachers for Highflyer Class we share the responsibilities for the class over the whole week. This term there have been some slight changes to help streamline the class even more. For the past year, we have shared the teaching on Tuesday mornings by being with them on alternate weeks and then Mrs Winters was with Discovery Class on the Wednesday. Since the start of Term 5, we thought to provide more consistency for the class and for Mrs Winters to be in class every Tuesday and then continue with the Wednesday in Highflyer and for Mrs Wyatt to be with Discovery Class. So, Mrs Wyatt continues to be in school for three days, Mon - Wed but will be with Highflyer on Mondays as usual, whilst Mrs Winters will be with the class Tuesday - Friday.
Forest School continues on Tuesday and P.E. on Thursday as timetabled.
Please remember to send in your child's planner with their shared reader. Please send in any previous loaned books from school. There are still a few outstanding to be returned. Thank you for returning some - there are still a couple outstanding.
