Highflyer Class Term 5 Week 31 May 2025 (by Dorothy Wyatt (dwyatt)) |
Chesil Beach looking westerly from Portland, Dorset. 6 May 2025
The third week of this term is again a short one with only four days. As such, we have decided to postpone the spelling test until next Monday, as usual. So, no new spellings this week - continue with the spellings given last week.
Our focus this week is Science Week in Highflyer and we will be investigating the needs of plants for them to survive and grow, their life-cycle and naming and identifying parts of plants. Our topic learning is identifying the physical features of the coast and using geography vocabulary correctly.
Forest School continues on Tuesday and P.E. on Thursday as timetabled.
Please remember to send in your child's planner with their shared reader. Please send in any previous loaned books from school. There are still a few outstanding to be returned. Thank you for returning some - there are still a couple outstanding.
Our phonic focus is: Week 3 - er/ sound spelt ‘or’ and /or/ sound spelt ‘ar’ after ‘w’
Homophone: one/won
Maths continues the unit about fractions - learning how to use unit fractions with different operations. Our mastering number focus is to develop a deeper understanding of strategies to calculate and help problem solve as well.
Please remember to return the weekly maths homework by Friday of each week.
Have a good week.
Mrs Wyatt and Mrs Winters.
