Highflyer Class Term 4 Week 37 March 2025 (by Dorothy Wyatt (dwyatt)) |
10 March 2025
What a wonderful World Book day we had last week and how lovely to see all the clever character costumes and their choice of book characters. Always a favourite day every year!
This week our topic looks at Bessie Coleman, the first black woman to gain her pilot's licence and a pioneer in the history of flight.
We have extra Henley Youth Festival activities for Y2 taking place this week as well:
Tuesday Bhangra 10 a.m. - 10.45 a.m.
Wednesday Create n Make 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
Thursday Music for Miniatures 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Forest School continues on Tuesday and P.E. on Thursday as timetabled.
Our phonic focus is: Week 3 Compare: /j/ /g/ /ge/ /dge/
Common Exception Words: move, prove, improve
Near homophones: quite/quiet
Maths continues with the unit on money and calculating combinations to £1 and starting to find change from £1. Our other focus of mastering number is to develop a deeper understanding of strategies that will enable them to calculate efficiently, with a focus on using a ‘making 10’ or ‘bridging through 10’ strategy to add two 1-digit numbers, e.g. 8 + 5. This week we continue with practise about adding two 1-digit numbers that ‘bridge 10’ and using the structure of now....then....next.... number stories.
Don't forget that this week the spellings are being tested on Monday.
Also, please remember to return the weekly maths homework by Friday of each week.
Have a lovely week!
