Geography Topic - Where does our Food Come From?
Last week’s focus was on trading fairly and responsibly. In the context of the cocoa bean farmers of Cote d’Ivoire, we learned about schemes that benefit not just the farmers themselves but the whole community.
This week we take a closer look at the chocolate industry and map the journey of the cocoa bean to our supermarket shelves. We will be drawing on previous learning and considering the environmental impact of the process and the benefits to farmers of working in cooperatives and in alliance with fairtrade schemes.
Knowledge and skills in this week's learning:
- Understanding that there are different opinions on importing products.
- Knowledge of the locations a cocoa bean travels through to reach the UK.
- Knowledge of the process from cocoa bean to chocolate.
Y4 Swimming
You have received a permission form to complete in advance of Y4's swimming lessons in Term 4. Please complete this to the best of your knowledge so that I can group children in advance of the sessions.

Please ensure that planners are brought to school everyday. Several children are regularly leaving them at home. They should have their current reading book in school everyday.
