Next week in Investigator Class

Firstly, I must congratulate the class on a fabulous first week back. It was lovely to see the children again and they returned with their usual excellent attitude to learning and settled straight back into the routines of the class. It is never easy coming back after the Christmas holiday and due to the icy conditions, we had to manage with very little outside playtime – they did a great job!
Next week’s learning
Topic work: In geography, we ask what it means to trade responsibly. We will focus on the cacao farmers of Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa, consider the problems they are facing in the production of this sought-after commodity and look at the impact of fairtrade initiatives for these communities.
Food packaging – I have asked children to do some research at home to find out where your food comes from. If you are in a supermarket, please let them spend some time in the fruit and vegetable aisles looking at the range of countries we import from.
Acts of Peace – as part of our RE unit, the class have agreed on some acts of peace that we plan to put into practice next week. Our aim is to actively encourage peace and harmony in the classroom and in the wider school. I’ll let you know how we get on.
Homework
• Atom maths: Y4 Factors / Y5 Written multiplication – you will need paper and pencil for working out.
• Spellings
• English Skills
• Reading
• Food research
Y5s Kilvrough Residential Trip
I look forward to seeing Y5 parents online at a parent meeting on Wednesday 15th January, 6pm to 6.30 pm, via zoom. This will be a good opportunity to find out additional information about the trip and to ask any questions you may have. Please look out for a separate email with a link to join the meeting.
Have a great week!
