Highflyer Class Term 2 Week 529 November 2024 (by Dorothy Wyatt (dwyatt)) |
2 December 2024
It has been lovely to see how engaged and how everyone is enjoying practising for our drama production, along with singing all the songs This week we are doing a costume check so please remember to send your named bag as mentioned below. Just to add, two weeks ago, your child will have been told what part they playing and given suggestions for costumes. Some will just be using ordinary casual clothing so will be easy to sort. Some ideas were again sent home on Friday.
For ideas see below:
'FAN' characters - Casual clothes under a coat, hat and scarf.
'CHILD' characters - hat, coat, scarf and gloves.
CHRISTMAS TREE characters - dress in green with green /bauble attachments, suggestion of battery lights and headgear such as a star or angel to represent the top of a tree.
'CHRISTMAS DINER' characters - festive jumper/casual clothes with a paper hat (i.e. from a cracker)
'NATIVITY' characters - traditional nativity outfit according to their part. The suggestion is that angels have tinsel bands as 'halos' and white clothing. For the nativity costumes, there will be some clothing that will be suitable in school. Please let us know if you need any help sourcing this. At the moment, all Nativity costumes the school has is being used by the younger ones until after Thursday. Kings/shepherds top layer of costumes may be available but with angels, the outfits will most likely be too small for Y2 size. We will look into tinsel halos when all costumes are in school.
Footwear should be light to wear but secure on the feet. No slippers, thank you. If you are able to include a clothes hanger that would be very helpful.
All costumes need to be in school in a NAMED bag large enough to store them and can be brought in as soon as you are able to. All costumes need to be in school by Monday 2 December. We are planning to do a preparatory dress rehearsal week beginning 2 December. .
Tag Rugby - Tuesday 3rd December. Please wear warm joggings bottoms and PE kit, including hoodies. We will be leaving at 9am and returning in time for lunch. This is the postponed session when we had a snowy day!
Phonics and Spellings
This week the phonic focus is: Term 2 Week 5 - Suffix -less (and review words with / eer / ear / and / air / are / ear/)
Please send their planner into school every day.
Maths
This week’s activities continue with looking at how the numbers 11–19 can be composed of ‘10 and a bit’. They will consolidate and build on their understanding of the ordinal aspect of numbers within 20, building on from last week. With the other maths focus, we start the unit on shape.
Forest School is as normal this week. Please remember to bring the full change of warm and waterproof clothes. Do please check that clothes are adequate for the weather conditions as the children will be outside during these colder weeks until the Spring.
Have a lovely week fifth week of Term 2.
