Victorians Day
I am looking forward to Monday’s day trip when we travel back in time in our hands-on Victorians Day experience at Reading Museum.
What to wear
- come to school dressed in your Victorian costume (or school uniform if you are not dressing up). Don’t worry if you don’t have costume as everyone is provided with something to wear for the Victorian School room session
- there is a short walk from the main museum to the Victorian School room which is inside Abbey Gateway. Children may need a coat as it is due to rain.
What to bring
- a packed lunch from home unless you have ordered a school packed lunch
- a change of clothes perhaps if children are doing an after school club
Back in school, our history lesson focuses on children’s jobs in Victorian England. This will involve researching and recording the jobs and working conditions of young Victorians using primary and secondary sources. For example, we will find out what a 'hurrier' and a 'thruster' had to endure in a Victorian coalmine.
Science
The Year 4's current topic is Electricity and they have been building circuits and finding out about circuit diagrams. They will be asked to think about all the things in your home that need electricity to make them work.
Homework
- Reading
- Spellings
- Atom maths
- English Skills – Section 1 Test 6
Have a great week everyone!
