Last week we had another visitor to the class, a Growth Mindset artist who captivated the children with his unique drawings and inspired them to create their own.  It was a lovely opportunity to reflect on how we can help ourselves with our learning and understand a little more about ourselves.  

It was also great to meet so many of you in person at our Parent/Teacher Evenings.  Thank you for coming and please don't hesitate to email if there is something you wish to pass on.  Just to add, we are not able to look at the email immediately so if it is urgent, please email the office.

This week in our geography topic work we are comparing our understanding of what we have learnt over the last term between hot and cold places and giving reasons why we would choose one place or the other.  

Sports Event - Monday afternoon - 21 October.  Please ensure your child is dressed in running kit, ready to leave after lunch from school.  Pick-up time is around 3pm or a little earlier. 

The entrance into the cross-country running area is via Greenmore Lane, beside Langtree School.  Please collect your child from the gate area.  See below for the exact point using the what3words app.

Phonics and Spellings

This week the phonic focus is revision over the long vowel sounds we have been looking at each week.  The spellings will be a mixture of long vowel sounds from this term.

Please remember to send the school planner into school every day.

Reading

We are reading books related to our topic of 'Hot and Cold'.

This is the last week of our non-fiction text - Extreme Earth.  Please ensure the books are sent into school to be collected by Friday this week.  

Maths

This week the children will revisit and reason about the composition of odd numbers. Working with the odd numbers within 10 will allow the children to understand the structure of these numbers and to develop a deeper understanding of how they are different to even numbers.   Our other focus continues with addition and subtraction and understanding how they are linked together.

Forest School is planned for this week on Tuesday 22 Oct as normal.  Please remember to bring the full change of warm and waterproof clothes.
