The Week Ahead T1Wk819 October 2024 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts)) |
The final week of term is upon us! It has been a very long term and a great one to start the year. A huge ’well done’ to the Investigators, who have all been brilliant.
It was a pleasure as always to meet with you all last week at the parents’ evenings. The home/school partnership is very important and together we can help children achieve their potential.
Topic work
Next week we will bring our geography topic to a close. It has been a fascinating learning experience for all of us and the children have impressed me with their knowledge of this region of the world and understanding of the issues facing it.
Fieldwork next week
The class has a local fieldwork trip scheduled for Thursday. The focus is on how our local woodland is used.
The Explorer
I am quite sad that we will be saying goodbye to Fred, Con, Lila and Max (not to mention the explorer himself). We have learned a lot from this work of fiction – not least some useful survival skills, should we ever need them. Katherine Rundell’s novel has been the perfect accompaniment to our topic and a number of children have been inspired to read other novels by her. I am looking forward to their book reviews.
Homework
English Skills – Section 1 test 3
Atom maths
Spellings – the whole of the term's spellings will be reviewed next week. Children should focus on particularly tricky weeks or individual spellings.
Reading
Have a great week!
