Week Ahead In Discovery 14.10.2413 October 2024 (by Sonia Coles (scoles)) |
It's been an exciting week in Discovery, as the children have enjoyed bringing their toys and wearing their slippers in class. On Friday, they wore home clothes, enjoyed a mini film and ate their metamorphic chocolate rocks.
Last week was an introduction to rocks. Children learned about the 3 groups rocks are classified into, looked at the various rock samples and how to identify rocks based on their characteristics. They learned the 3 process and formation of sedimentary rocks and made triple chocolate tasty metamorphic rocks by applying heat and pressure.
This week we will continue with science looking at igneous rocks, testing rock porosity, looking at fossils and learning about soil.
Maths- continuation of addition and subtraction unit. Please could children practise 3 digit addition and subtraction questions at home, along with learning their times table daily.
Homework- Spelling have been issued for next week, spag books, maths homework worksheets. Daily reading at home is a must. Thank you for your support.
On Monday- we will have a motivational speaker talking to the children to improve mental health and growth mindset.
Parent evening appointments will take place for 10 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday. I look forward to meeting you then.
Wishing you all a good week.
