National Poetry Day

Another week – another online literary event! On Thursday it was National Poetry Day and the Upper School combined to take part in a Guinness World of Records attempt to hold the largest ever poetry lesson. Next week, we’ll find out if the attempt was successful.

Topic work

We have written letters to President Lula da Silva of Brazil, deploring the catastrophic destruction of large parts of the Amazon Rainforest. The class have become very knowledgeable about the Amazon this term – let’s hope their letters manage to persuade him to act further to protect this important natural resource.

D&T

Construction began last week and the pavilions are taking shape nicely. We will continue on Monday afternoon. Children may be rummaging through your recycling bins in search of cladding materials.

Next week is Bikeability for most of the Year 5s.

A few important points to note:

check bikes are in safe working condition: tyres inflated, both brakes working, chain lubricated, saddle height correct.

check helmet fits and straps adjusted to fit

dress for the weather as training will continue even if wet. This should include waterproof coat, gloves and a change of   clothes if the forecast is particularly wet.

water bottles to be carried on cycles or in a small rucksack – instructors will carry children’s water bottles where they have   capacity.

 Homework

  • Spellings – tested on a Thursday
  • Reading
  • Atom maths
  • Times tables practice
  • New this week - English Skills workbooks – Section 1 Test 1 – to be handed in next Friday

Have a great week everyone!
