Endeavour Class: Term 1, Week 2

8 September 2024 (by Kerry Burbedge (kburbedge))

As we look to our first full week back in school, we continue our topic learning and consider what the Amazon rainforest is actually like. From our geography learning, we will then brainstorm descriptions of the Amazon rainforest, using expanded noun phrases, simile, personification and metaphor before writing our own descriptive pieces.

In our RE topic, Humanism, we will explore influential humanist thinkers before identifying and discussing the key ideas these people have. On Thursday, we will begin our topic on Pavilions - our first lesson will involve toothpicks and mini marshmallows!

Just a reminder that PE is on Tuesdays for year 6; year 5 are to come into school in their forest school clothes on Tuesdays  and bring uniform to change into afterwards. Whole-class PE is on Wednesdays, children to come into school in PE kit.

Spellings were given out on Friday and will be tested this coming Friday.

Maths homework will be on Atom Learning for maths from this week too.

As the weather to more changeable now, please do encourage children to either wear a waterproof jacket into school or bring one in their bag - they will not be allowed out to play if it raining and they don't have a jacket.

Lastly, thank you so much for ensuring the children had a pencil case to bring into school with them, every single child had one!

As ever, if you have any questions or queries, please contact me via the class email - endeavourclass@nettlebed.oxon.sch.uk or feel free to catch me on Tuesdays or Thursdays after school.

Have a wonderful week ahead.

Mrs Burbedge
