Challenger Term 1, Week 1
Welcome to Term 1, Week 1 in Challenger Class!
Please see the Knowledge Organiser tab for a brief overview of the learning this term.
This week’s focus is on settling in, reconnecting with friends, and establishing the rules and routines of the class and school. Baseline assessments in core subjects are also going to be carried out.
Writing
The class will write about themselves and give a recount of what they did over the summer holiday. Pupils may want to bring in something connected with a special outing, event or activity to share with the class and help support their writing.
Phonic/Reading
As it is a short week the class will consolidate previously learnt Phonics skills and GPCs. We are revisiting the Shared reader 32 ‘What Can I do in the Summer’ which links to their writing. A digital version can be found here: https://fft.org.uk/success-for-all-phonics-what-can-do-summer/
We have a selection of books called ‘Further Readers’ available digitally. They are to encourage reading for pleasure and consolidate and embed what has been learnt at school. It can be found here:
