Investigator Class - Final Week

12 July 2024 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts))

Porridge – Yum yum!

What a performance! I hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did. The children were great and while they may not have had the biggest speaking parts, they certainly helped to create a fantastic show. We also had some of our class learning the ropes from some older, more experienced tech crew. Well done everyone!

With just a week to go we are busy wrapping up the term – finishing off some units of work but also winding down for the summer holidays.

PSHE – Talking about Puberty

We have had our first session discussing puberty for boys and girls and I was impressed with how sensible the children were. Included in this session:

  • Identify parts of the body that males and females have in common and those that are different;
  • Know the correct terminology for their genitalia;
  • Understand and explain why puberty happens.

Children have had the opportunity to discuss and ask questions in the safe and confidential space of the classroom. We have established the Rock Rules as a framework to guide our discussion which will be Respectful, Open, Confidential and Kind.

Children have been able to put questions into the question box and I have suggested that they discuss the subject at home this weekend. We will have the follow-up session next week.  Some of the girls have already requested an opportunity to have a ‘girls only’ chat too and I will make this happen next week at some point. Please do get in touch if there is anything you wish to discuss.

Next week – non-school uniform day on Friday and an early finish at 1.30pm.

Have a great week!
