Highflyer Class Term 6 Week 4

21 June 2024 (by Dorothy Wyatt (dwyatt))

In our topic work we are using maps of a seaside town and applying our understanding of directions, including compass directions to explore and identify features of the town.   We can role-play being a tour guide and use our maps to be a guide to points of interest around the town and the coastline.

We will be reading 'Town is by the Sea' and investigating the story in more detail so this will inspire our own writing this week.

Additionally, we are spending time learning about plants and what conditions they need to survive.  We will be outside when we can, using our fantastic grounds to help us with our learning.

Phonics

For the remainder of this term we are reviewing and revising the knowledge we have practised this year, so there will be a mixed selection of words for the next three weeks.   The skills of proof-reading, partner sharing to spot and correct errors and dictation will be also practised.

Maths

Continue practising 2x 5x 10x tables.  Problem solving, looking at thirds as a fraction and moving to using the standard form of unit fractions.

Forest School - as normal.

Keep cool and have a lovely week!
