Investigator - the Week Ahead 26.2.24

24 February 2024 (by Sarah Roberts (sroberts))

It was a great start to the term with the usual interest and enthusiasm for our new topic.  Thanks to everyone who is bringing in interesting stories, photos and information related to the topic – it does help bring the learning to life.

Writing next week will be linked to our class text, Asha and the Spirit Bird.  Last week, children imagined what their own spirit animals might be and produced some wonderful sketches of them. This week they will write descriptions.

Topic work next week – climate zones and biomes around the world with a particular focus on India.

In maths Y4 will continue the unit on length and perimeter and Y5 continue work on decimals and percentages.

Last week in Science, Y4 made ice cream in a partially successful experiment involving changes of state – and got to eat the results! Y5 were investigating filtration.  This week they will be finding out about separation by evaporation.

PE CHANGE OF DAY – I will need to make an adjustment to the PE timetable as follows:

Tuesday Y5 Forest School

Tuesday Y4 Swimming – Please wear PE kits on this day.

Thursday – PE for Year 4 and Year 5

WE WON! I am delighted that incredible Investigator finally won the class house point competition. In fact they are worthy winners every week, but this week managed to come out on top having earned more house points than any other class.  On Monday we will discuss what their treat will be.

We are looking forward to the sponsored event next Friday when children will be let loose on Nettlebed’s obstacle course to raise money for Sobell House.  Don’t forget to wear non-school uniform – and nothing too smart as the course is likely to be wet and muddy.

Have a wonderful week!
