Highflyer Class Term 3 Week 5

2 February 2024 (by Dorothy Wyatt (dwyatt))

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we finish our topic 'Rich and Poor' and, although it has been quite a short term, it has gone by really quickly!   We have looked at the differences of farmers' lives - those that belong to Fair Trade and those that don't.   Our writing is focussing on persuasion to help Fair Trade producers and to help this, we have begun to debate in class.  We have learnt how to give our opinion - agree or disagree - and to explain why.  This will help us write with persuasion.

Maths is understanding money.   Role-playing 'shops' with coins of different denominations would be ideal to do at home and over the next few weeks at least.   The more practice opportunities, the more confidence they will have in handling money - an important life skill.    The homework reflects counting money.  Please let me know if your child needs a little help or ask them to speak to me about it in the school day before Friday.

Safer Internet Day is Tuesday 6th February.  Forest School and PE is as normal timetable too.

Also, please check your child is wearing correct uniform clothing - even on P.E. days.

Star of the Term assembly is on Friday 9th February.

Next week is the school half term break and I wish you all a relaxing and refreshing time with your family.

See you on the 19th February.
