Welcome back to all Investigator children and their families. I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces (and some new ones), ready for the start of Term 1 next week.

We will spend some time getting to know each other again, reconnecting with old friends, meeting new ones and settling in to the new class routines in the first days back.

We will also find time for some work in this busy first week back!

• An introduction to our upper school topic 'Battles that shaped British History', will include an overview of major historical events to give children a sense of where the battles we will study fit into a timeline of British History.

• The class reader is War Horse and I have already shared details in a separate email. We will read the book together in class and the text will be used in a variety of ways including as a stimlus for writing. We will begin reading this week.

• In maths Year 4s and Year 5s will explore place value in the first block of work.
