This week is poetry week in honour of National Poetry Day on Thursday 5 October. This year focuses on the theme of refuge.

Phonic/Reading

This week’s spellings are the sound ‘ie’ & red words.

We are reading Shared reader 35 ‘Let’s sort it out’.

Maths

We will begin a new unit on Addition & Subtraction. This week the children will learn to use the Part-Whole model, write number sentences, use fact families – addition facts, and use number bonds within 10.

Music

Children will learn to find and keep a steady beat, play or clap simple rhythmic patterns using long and short sounds, clap four-beat rhythms and respond to the questions, thinking about the music.
